Pleased to say that I finished reading this this Summer. What a hell of a read! Amazing light novel that comes highly recommended to fans of #anime #manga #reading #novels #graphicnovels #siencefiction .
It reads hard and fast with plenty of action and story. Surprised this isn’t a video game yet. The movie, #edgeoftomorrow was based on this novel, graphic novel, and manga (which I am still trying to acquire) This comes highly recommended. As for the coffee and the mug? Well, I’ll let you figure that out but it plays a very important part in both the novel and movie.

Brutal, intense, open, challenging, and thrilling, this is a game I’d recommend to fans of #demonsouls and #darksouls . #SniperElite III is the sequel to 2012s hit game, Sniper Elite V2 from 505 Games and Rebellion studios. That game was inspired by the cult classic on the ps2.
The tag here is that “One Bullet Can Change History” Its 1943 and it is time to eliminate a Nazi super weapon. Players use their marksmanship skills and wide environments to strike their targets. Sounds, gravity , wind, bullet ballistics. If you strike true, you get an excruciatingly painful XRAY camera of the bullet tearing your foe apart. But the enemy will put up a fight. Hidden snipers, tanks , APCs, machine guns, and general alertness make stealth a MUST.
I finished the campaign but I got plenty of the game to go. If you are looking for a challenge, definitely pick this up. Keep up the good work Dev teams and aim high!

Yes. The original trilogy will always be better then the prequel trilogy. But the prequel trilogy ain’t so bad. Yes sure, Jar Jar is annoying, anakin Skywalker is kind of a wimp, the love story is dry, and Liam Neeson doesn’t make it. But the action, the settings before everything , the lightsaber battles, and the moments leading to the original trilogy are damn good.
This is a towel I got back then in 1999, when the world was going through another huge cultural phenomenon with the release of Star Wars Episode I : The Phantom Menace. Still rocks!

This game should become a full-fledged animated theatrical movie. I successfully completed #disney Mickey Mouse in The Castle of Illusion. I got the rainbow bridge, defeated Mizrabel, and rescued Minnie.
This was an enjoyable downloadable title that harkened back to a golden age long gone. 1990s Disney where it was all about the animation, the fun, the simplicity, and focusing on that magic. Games that were made with care , detail, and pure fun. Where creators did what they wanted and needed to do to make the game great. No financial pressures , corporate alterations, or an accountant over yoy shoulder. Just creative freedoms. And of course, some of the best cartoons and TV shows. Ever. Oh yea, the theme parks also.
The game is a full remake of the #sega classic. Its fun„colorful, animated, and challenging. In addition to voices, there is both the original soundtrack and a new one. It was a great experience! Plus, I needed a break from the carnage of #SniperElite III .
I hope a game like this comes back. And someone in Disney Animation considers a movie. I can’t imagination how incredible it would be.

Now THESE are truly gems. #TheDarkness and #TheDarkness2 by #2KGames . The first one released in 2007. The other came in 2012. It is based on the comic book from #TopCowProductions
Jackie Estacado is a hitman for a big Italian mob. He’s had a hard living but he manages. And he has a golden heart with his sweet heart, Jenny. But one night, everything changed. The Don of the mob, Uncle Paulie, orders a hit on Jackie. He barely survived. He is pinned and will certainly be gunned down. But then, a great evil erupts from his body, slaying his assailants in the process with delightful brutality. He is The Darkness, an ancient evil said to have existed since the universe began. So evil, he actually trained the devil himself. Jackie has to take on the mob, control his powers, and resist plunging into evil.
The first game was developed by #starbreezestudios It was rough around the edges but vicious, fun, and interesting, especially with the darkness powers. They get more advanced and sophisticated as you proceed. Taking place in NYC, the game is open and varied, making for a memorable single player adventure.
As for the sequel, it was AWESOME! New team was involved. Introducing quad-wielding, a new visual style, and tight gameplay, it made for incredibly exciting, fast paced action. You punished enemies on the fly and were a bonified badass. The only problem was length. The sp could be finished in 10 hr’s. and then in one sitting on new game plus. There is a co-op campaign but I’m not sure if those servers are running. Still, incredibly fun!
We haven’t seen another darkness game since. I would really like there t be one. On next gen platforms, this could be an incredible tale to tell. Make it happen!

I’m just as surprised to even be writing this. Me, a 25 year-old male, young writer in New Jersey that prefers to see The Avengers saving New York and slaughtering Helghast in Killzone. But on my real-life quest, my “Player 2″ as we shall call her , wished to see “TFIOS” . She had seen films such as Godzilla and Edge of Tomorrow with me and so I decided to pay her back. And, fulfilling her tactical commands, I decided on doing so. I’m expecting this movie to be a boring, thoughtless, and completely unrealistic love drama. Love movies in today’s world are absolutely ruined, becoming wastelands where young 20 somethings fax copy the male/female protagonist into their minds and expect to find that specific person in the real world.
Kind of ironic as our love culture today is so cynical and betraying of itself. Lets face it! If one were to see this dreamy nice guy on a screen in a movie and, by some stretch, really find this guy, it would be a thing for about three weeks before deciding that the guy is a complete loser because he’s too nice. But then, go for the guy that will actually do harm because the guy is “gangsta” as is the poppy noun for today. The same kind of thing happens to guys to as they seek ones with impossible proportions and disrespectfully see one end goal.
Anyways, this isn’t therapy. This is why you should see TFIOS. Because, if you fancy yourself a nerd or geek of anything, you’ll enjoy what the male lead is here! (**Potential Spoilers but you should’ve seen the movie by now***)
When the movie starts, we are introduced to Hazel played by Shailene Woodsley. She is a young girl diagnosed with terminal Stage 4 cancer. She sits in this world where she tries to keep her head up but carelessly resigns herself to her fate. She reluctantly goes to group sessions and meets other people but when she introduces herself, she confidently ushers in her reasoning of the end of the universe as well as death as it mirrors her situation. But then, she meets Augustus played by Ensel Elgort. He too is a cancer survivor, having had a part of his leg amputated to eliminate the illness. What starts off simply enough soon evolved into a startling and pleasant surprise, for me at least.
Augustus is a nerd. A complete geek that likes science fiction and comics. Someone who takes joy in going on not adventures but missions. What those missions entail range from saving humanity to stopping H.Y.D.R.A to being a personified bad-ass in any way or form. A guy who seems to greatly enjoy the fictional universes of other mediums. Someone who chooses to go into a video game or comic book and get totally lost in it. Within the first few minutes, we see him playing Halo 3 with his friend. In several shots, his room is littered with comic books and sci-fi movie posters. In two separate shots, I saw a “V for Vendetta” poster and a MARVEL comic book that I read as “Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.” He even watches James Cameron’s Aliens (1986) on board a flight to Amsterdam with Hazel . The scene shown is the film’s final act, where Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) straps herself into a loader mech, stands tall against the alien xenomorph queen, and defiantly shouts ” Get away from her, you BITCH!” During that moment, as the shot panned in, audiences could here the sounds of the loader walking and I knew instantly what the sound was. So proceeded to whisper into my Player 2′s ear the lines, word for word, as they were happening.
Why is this important? Because it shows that some of the best human connection is to completely be honest. Not to manufacture feelings that aren’t there but to be comfortable with who you are and be comfortable with that person. You see, Augustus is completely comfortable being himself. He’s ok with nerding out with Hazel. By comparison, Hazel is a very chill individual but we don’t ever see a comic book or video game being played by her. In her room, we see cyan blue walls and posters for music like Imagine Dragons.
Augustus is not intimidated to play Halo in front of his girlfriend or watch Aliens. He’s OK with sharing these experiences with her. He’s not manufacturing something to impress Hazel. In response,Hazel appreciates this level of confidence and is attracted by it. She soon starts sharing her nerdom of sorts, like books and reading. To me, it represents something that is so desperately missing in today’s culture: Human honesty. And I don’t mean honesty like not eating ice cream because you told yourself not too. I mean being who you truly are and what it is you most enjoy. We all have hobbies or pastimes. We do things to give us a bit of happiness and to cope with the struggles of daily life.
One thing to remember is that the world, and the things beyond our control, do change people. People judge and persecute with little to know common sense and a stubbornness for ignorant selfishness. When it comes to human relations, I have observed that nerds and geeks are still seen as….well…for lack of a better term, lame. Some say that we are immature for cosplaying, reading comics, or favoring an anime show over general things like MTV. Some say that we should stop playing the games and stop being ourselves. It is true that we won’t impress everyone we see. But if being who we are based on our own hearts, especially being nerdy, makes us very confident and happy, then why should we change?
Things change people but it is up to ourselves, with our own respect and fortitude, to decide if and how we allow life to change us. There’s a very common sense thing between right and wrong and so, if your heart is in the right place , then you can persevere. Augustus could easily allow the loss of his leg and his cancerous state to control him and decide how to be. Perhaps in that moment, he sees that kind of duality of feeling within Hazel and that is what attracts him to her. In seeing this, he wishes to pull her out of the depressive slump she’s in and open up along the way. In it all, he remains himself. He could allow it to deactivate his nerdy side. But, he maintains it and shares it. And here, inevitably, he finds someone who he sees as not another face and is willing to share these experiences.
Perhaps most imperative and special is an exchange they make. Hazel wants Augustus to read her favorite book ” An Imperfect Affliction.” Aug wants Hazel to read “The Price of Dawn” which is an adaptation of his favorite video game. Of course, silly me attempted to locate this book and then I realized its fictional. The books, for me, represent and exchanging of hearts and souls. Planting the seed so to speak and allowing each other to see life through their eyes. It marks a special connection.
Ill go back to playing Sniper Elite III and I’ll be back in theaters watching Transformers, but this moment really spoke many mediums for me and I feel for many others. I’m no love doctor here but instead of looking for the dream boyfriend/girlfriend that is supposed to follow some kind of intricate made-up plan in relationships, maybe one should take to themselves, discover who they are, and decide what to share. Share that thing that makes you confident, weird, maybe crazy, but ultimately, and extension of yourself. And if that personality attracts someone in romance, don’t be afraid to share. Don’t be afraid to be you. Don’t be afraid to be honest. It’s likely Talking about the back story to Harry Potter or MLP is not only interesting but makes to build character with someone. It means your honest with who you are. You are honest in being human. And that honesty is shared. That’s pretty damn attractive.
I’ll always be a nerd. I’ll always find and share more interests in Star Wars, Tron, and Batman that I will in other things. But, just because a person doesn’t go the “gangsta” route and chooses to be a nerd instead, it doesn’t make them any less interesting. In fact, it could be everything one is looking for. Just some thoughts on this bright Summer day.
-RNIf you are a nerd/geek, put “The Fault in our Stars” on your watch list. (M83-Wait. Hit Play to listen as you read) I’m just as surprised to even be writing this.
And another game going to the trade in bin is The Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands released in May 2010.
I got this after going to #PAXEAST2010 . The #fragdolls from #ubisoft were proudly displaying thus. And there was a gameplay demo. It made for a short but pretty damn good action/adventure fantasy quest.
The game takes place between The Sands of Time and Warrior within where the prince tries to protect his brother, Malik, from a deadly demonic army that slowly transforms him.
The prince enlists the help of the djinn deep in the majestic after life for help.
Using the power of the #AssassinsCreed engine, the game is majestic with solid particle effects and lighting. Between the elemental combat powers, parkour, platforming, and the screen-filling enemies, gameplay is also a blast!
The game is short but well worth your time. And its the last #princeofpersia game we have seen since. I think well see one again soon. After all, #rainbowsix is back.
As for the movie from #jerrybruckheimer, it was OK but could’ve been better. Its fun though.

Earth has seen its fair share of galactic combat with earthlings over the years. We’ve been zapped, blown up, eaten alive, had aliens burst out of our chests, get infected, turn to zombies, get transformed into aliens, get transformed into the Borg, and like in Titan A.E, just flat-out blown the hell up for no justifiable reason! We’ve fought back with M4A1 pulse rifles, mechs, fighter planes, a computer virus cold. But what do you fight with when time is used against you? For the vicious alien race, the bio-tech creatures known as the mimics, time is on their side but one man is about to discover something that hinges that fate of humanity. This man is Tom Cruise and he is a very hard man to kill. This sets the stage for Edge of Tomorrow, one of 2014′s best movies
Fast, vicious, bold, original, and funny, Edge of Tomorrow is a great retelling
of the original story. It’s style is incredible and it’s talent is
remarkable.Whether you are a casual action fan or a die-hard science fiction
enthusiast, this is a must-see!
Edge of Tomorrow was inspired by a manga/light novel called All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. The manga arrived first with vivid illustrations of an interesting terrestrial war against the mimics, a strange, biological alien species with built in nano-bots. They can adapt to any terrain and are effective at coordinating attacks. For Private Cage, a fresh recruit straight out of training, it is a hopeless battle. To fight this new enemy, a new weapon was built, the Jacket. The jacket is a sophisticated but potent armored suit, capable of immense strength and firepower. But the mimics are immensely powerful. Within the first few minutes of the final battle, Cage is killed in action. Suddenly, he wakes up, just 24 hours before the battle. Soon, he realizes that he is living the same day, every day, at the same time. Only he knows it and can change it. But he still dies and resets to that beginning moment. Each time though, keiji becomes stronger, faster, and more skilled a warrior. But when all seems hopeless and it appears he is living in some purgatory, an elite soldier, Rita, calls to him and seems to be the key.
For Edge of Tomorrow, difference are made but the core elements remain the same. For example, Tom Cruise’s character has sort of the same name as Private “Cage” which when said, sounds like Keiji. The jackets are different, the battleground is different, but director Doug Liman keeps more of the origin story in place. Without spoiling anything, the movie draws plenty of inspirations and so, any subtle differences carefully flow well. Having read the Graphic Novel, I was very pleased. Currently, I am attempting to secure the manga and am reading this original light novel. If they had kept the original content, I do not believe it woul have resonated well. The original novel goes deep into details and the content would’ve forced an “R” Rating rather than the strong PG-13 rating present. It’s possible that there will be a lot of behind-the-scenes content when the Blu Ray is released.
Some say they that this is also like a big video-game movie, with the taglines of “Live. Die. Repeat” similar to how gamers act out their play styles in many video games. Each time you die, you learn and get better at the task at hand. They would be correct as Sakurazaka-san even mentioned it. And when one finally gets it right, there a sense of major accomplishment. The trick here is that it’s a story of camaraderie among warriors and humans in the middle of battle, most especially in a war that is beyond any fought amongst themselves.
(Promotion for the manga illustration)
You’ll be thrilled, engaged, sad, and laughing the whole way through. The adrenaline will stick on the back of your neck and you’ll be in awe of the Jacket combat. The kind of themes present in the manga/novel are here, which is terrific! Seeing the Jacket combat and the vicious battle with the Mimics is incredible. Tom Cruise plays as Private Cage and proves that he is a very hard man to kill. Some say he the movie is a reflection of his career and I’d have to say that it stands very true. Having been in many many, action films to which he is always against the odds, it’s interesting to see where he is in this one. He is persistent and refuses to to simply die. He reiterates over and over again in an attempt to discover what is happening. Emily Blunt plays as Rita, known popular in the lore as “The Full Metal Bitch.” She is as much a primary character as Cage and their camaraderie and chemistry flow extremely well. Avid readers will see her wielding a massive blade than an axe but they keep her details intact.
Presentation wise, the movie is incredible! The jackets have an incredible architectural design and truly feel like elite combat weapons. The mimics move with incredible fluidity and the combat is exciting to watch! The music score by Christopher beck is thrilling as well. It’s worth it to watch this in IMAX if at all possible. Finally, “Love me Again” by John Newman is a fantastic ending credits track. I bought it right away.
The End of Line
Edge of Tomorrow is this Summer’s, and maybe 2014′s, surpise big hit. Imaginative, original, thrilling, and punctuated with good humor, it is a terrific films that all will enjoy. While it could’ve been longer, this is a fantastic adaptation of the manga/novel and I would hope that more follow in this movie’s footsteps. This is an experience that no one this Summer will forget. Finally, when you get the chance, check out the free app on iOS and Android. Lots of fun!

She was the Queen of Evil, a most respectable villainess that truly struck fear and terror into the do-gooder of justice and rightousness. But, because of this movie, she is a ruined character. Creating a forest of thorns, cursing her goddaughter, and shapeshifitng into a dragon are traits that make her even more sinister than the likes of Darth Vader, the Joker, and Lord Voldemort. She was a villain that inspired many others throughout the world of entertainment and story-telling. But alas, when I walked out of the theater, the villain I once respected was now a broken and shattered individual.
The best way to describe Maleficent is describe Pepsi and Diet Pepsi. In order to drink Diet Pepsi, all the good things about Pepsi had to be remoed to make it healthier and so, it tastes like sh**. In the case of the movie, all the great things about the villain had to be extracted. She is effectively de-clawed, de-fanged, and removed of her villainy. While Angelina Jolie embraces her character, the story around her and her execution does not. This makes Maleficient one of the biggest disappointments.
Sure, it has been a hit at the box-office but it’s important to note who funded that bill. The bubble families and soccer moms will, naturally, see this as the greatest movie ever. For those like myself that actually worked at Disney, played the Kingdom Hearts games, watched Sleeping beauty, and believed in the classic world of Disney, this is many things. A disappointment, not great, an insult, and so on. Whatever it is, it reflects where Disney is going forward with its classic movies and it’s disappointing.
“Of all the Stirring Legends of the Triumph of Good and Evil, None has ever
been as inspirational to me as Sleeping Beauty.”- Walt Disney
Before continuing into the movie, a little background is in order as Disney sold this movie on being an expanded, retelling of the original movie, “Sleeping Beauty (1959).” The orginal story originates from The Brothers Grimm in 1859. In 1959, Disney took the original story and gave it color, style, music, and an enchanting view. it was a crowning jewel achievement that would pave the future of the company all the way to the present. it’s qualities, attention to story details, and creating something all to enjoy. The names of Aurora, Prince Phillip, Diablo the crow, and even all become synonymous with Disney fans. THeir names and characters frequently come up in Disney Parades, shows, and fireworks as well. Most notably, is Maleficient’s transformation to pure evil in the form of a massive green fire-breathing dragon to which she uses to punish and destroy. This occurs during an epic, climactic battle with Prince Phillip an exemplary example of the eternal battle between good and evil.
Naturally, my expectations are quite high. This is a movie and character that many respect and what established Disney as a top-tier entertainment company for the last close to sixty years. Angeline looks perfect for the part and the scale looks like a fantasy epic. But the end result, is ruining.
The first thing I notice is that it is a “PG” rating and runs at just over 90 minutes. This is an indication that this movie is rushed, compressed, and truly designed for kids in the audience. Disney had benched this as “going beyond the fairy tale” but you really can’t go beyond anything in that 90 minutes.
THen the movie began and it punched me in the face. How so? Like if it were The Hulk doing it.
EVERYTHING CHANGED! It’s as if the cast and crew took the original story, shredded it to pieces, then glued parts of it to a corporate script that was copied from 2013′s mega hit, FROZEN! The names of the fairies all changed to something I cannot even pronounce. THat any their annoying! Maleficient’s servant changed and basically does all the cool things, like shape0shifting. King Stefan is seen as a villain (?). And, perhaps worst of all, Maleficient herself NEVER turns into a dragon. This means that the horns on her head are rather pointless.
A good chunk of the movie is needlessly corny but where I really disconnected was the movie’s third act, which rewrites “true love.” The original never re-wrote true-love but of course, in the wake of Frozen, it had to be rewritten. In that moment, Maleficient truly became a disappointment. I liked Frozen and I respect the message but it was absolutely unnecessary and it removes the greatness that this villain once had. I’m open minded on this direction but a the same time, I hated what it did. In that moment, they truly forgot their roots. They dismissed their past. And the movie became disappointing
And so I ask…WHY? Why was this change deemed necessary? Why did it have to be written into a story about the Queen of Evil? Why was all the evil removed? Why couldn’t you just have the same movie run for 2.5hrs with major action set pieces!? What purpose are you serving by changing all the connections and most especially True Love!? My answer: money and profiting! I liked Frozen but not every single movie has to be running the Frozen lesson!
As for the rest for the story, I don’t really remember anything about it. King Stefan is played by Sharlto Copley of District 9 and Elysium fame. He makes a good character here but that is it. By the end of the movie, I couldn’t really tell if he was truly of villain or just a guy in the wrong place at the wrong time with the right intentions. But that’s it in terms of story. Nothing really going beyond the fairy tale. nothing memorable or endearing. Just…..something for Maleficient to do really. No commitment, tribute, or respect. Plus, and this doesn’t bother me but it’s worth noting, but is this the new thing now? All Men are evil all of a sudden so we need to make them evil in Disney movies now? Girls don’t need men now?
As disappointing as this movie is for me, it’s not bad. What the film does right is in presentation. Visually, the movie is quite impressive, with a nice use of computer generated effects and real, traditional footage. After all, Robert Stromberg, was the visual effects supervisor for James Cameron’s Avatar in 2009,. The costuming was also done well and it reminded me of the 1959 classic. Angelina Jolie marks her first big appearance on screen since 2010 and she does so in a big way. She basically is Maleficent. Evil, angry, and frighteningly happy, she does the part well. Her lines, most especially during the curse scene, come out with a very delightful effort with a heavy handed element of treachery. She may lack the green skin but she works with it. The music score by James Newton Howard is done quite well and the action sequences, as few as they are, are done nicely. It would’ve been great if they were expanded upon in a 2.5 hour long fantasy epic.
The End of Line
Maleficent marks a missed opportunity. Good eye candy and entertaining but a big missed opportunity and an insult that Disney should be aware. You don’t take your characters and water them down. Obviously, that’s paid off financially but it’s quality is terrible and the legacy is ruined. Angelina may make a good villain but this entire story is an insult. I’d like to believe that this experiment of sorts will stay where it is but when I see a Cinderella movie coming March 2015, a Little Mermaid Movie in the works, and the Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon helming a Beauty and the Beast movie, I wince to know what will change.
Maleficent is no longer the Queen of evil. Like the movie, she is now a broken disappointment. To pull any silver lining out of this, maybe Michael Bar will reboot it in a decade or something and give a movie that we deserve.
Score: 2/5 bitsMaleficent Review: The Queen of Evil loses her crown in a disappointing movie. She was the Queen of Evil, a most respectable villainess that truly struck fear and terror into the do-gooder of justice and rightousness.
